چکیده

Retroperitoneal fibrosis (RPF) is a rare inflammatory process associated with the development of extensive fibrosis around the abdominal aorta and surrounding retroperitoneal structures. The symptoms of RPF are often insidious and non-specific resulting in diagnostic delay with ensuing complications related to the progressive fibrotic deposition. A common complication of RPF is ureteric obstruction leading to hydronephrosis and varying degrees of renal impairment.1,2 However, spontaneous renal forniceal rupture due to RPF is exceedingly rare and to our knowledge has not been previously described. An unusual case of RPF causing left ureteric obstruction with spontaneous left renal forniceal rupture and its management is discussed in light of the current literature.

Unusual presentation of idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis: case report.

Idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis (IRF) is an uncommon entity described as progressive proliferation of connective tissues leading to a fibrous plaque-like lesions that encases the aorta and inferior vena cava inferior to the level of the renal arteries. Mass forming retroperitoneal fibrosis is rare. We present a rare case of a unilateral focal retroperitoneal mass simulating a tumour encasin...

Retroperitoneal Actinomycosis: A Rare Sequela of an Infected Obstructing Ureteral Stone

Background: Actinomycosis is a condition in which Actinomyces, a normal component of the oral and gastrointenstial flora, becomes pathogenic in the setting of damaged tissue, leading to widespread tissue destruction across fascial planes. Prior literature describing this condition is rare, particularly cases involving the retroperitoneum. In this study, we report a case of retroperitoneal actin...

A Rare Case of Upper Ureter Rupture: Ureteral Perforation Caused by Urinary Retention

Perforation of the ureter is a rare condition that causes a series of problems including retroperitoneal urinoma, urosepsis, abscess formation, infection, and subsequent renal impairment. There are causative factors that induce ureteric rupture, including malignancy, urinary calculi, idiopathic retroperitoneal fibrosis, recent iatrogenic manipulation, external trauma, degenerative kidney condit...

Spontaneous forniceal rupture: Can it be treated conservatively?

CONTEXT Spontaneous forniceal rupture is one of the possible complications of urolithiasis. The mechanism of forniceal rupture is not well explained in the literature. Most of the cases presented with sudden onset of acute renal colic and diagnosed by noncontrast CT (NCCT). Until now there is no solid consensus about the ideal management of such a condition. AIM To study indications and valid...

Ruptured renal artery aneurysm during pregnancy, a clinical dilemma

BACKGROUND Rupture of a renal artery aneurysm (RAA) during pregnancy is a rare event, with a high mortality rate for both mother and fetus. Increased blood flow and intra-abdominal pressure, and vascular changes secondary to increased steroid production are postulated as contributory to the increased risk of rupture during pregnancy. CASE PRESENTATION We present here a case report of total av...
